Dubai launches first dedicated ultra-fast charging hub for electric taxi fleet
First phase supports more than 200 future charging points
DUBAI – Dubai has taken another step towards expanding its sustainable transport network with the launch of its first dedicated ultra-fast electric vehicle charging hub for taxis.
The facility has been developed through a partnership between Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) and Dubai Taxi Company (DTC). The project marks the first phase of a long-term agreement aimed at strengthening charging infrastructure for one of the region’s largest electric taxi fleets.
The new hub, located at DTC’s headquarters in Muhaisnah 4, was inaugurated by Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of DEWA, alongside Abdul Muhsen Ibrahim Kalbat, Chairman of the DTC Group’s Board of Directors.
First phase
The charging hub features 24 next-generation ultra-fast charging points, each delivering 360kW of power. The facility can charge 24 electric taxis simultaneously in around 35 minutes, significantly reducing vehicle downtime and enabling taxis to return to service more quickly.

The project is the first operational milestone under the strategic partnership signed by DEWA and DTC during WETEX 2025. The agreement will see the deployment of more than 200 ultra-fast charging points dedicated exclusively to Dubai Taxi Company’s growing fleet of electric vehicles.
The initiative is designed to support the wider adoption of zero-emission transport while strengthening Dubai’s electric mobility infrastructure.
Green mobility
Al Tayer said DEWA continues to strengthen strategic partnerships that accelerate the transition to a more sustainable and efficient transport system, supporting Dubai’s ambition to become the best city in the world to live, work and visit while remaining future-ready.
He said the initiative aligns with the Dubai Green Mobility Strategy 2030 and the Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050. According to Al Tayer, DEWA is continuing to expand an advanced electric vehicle charging network that delivers a seamless and reliable charging experience, reduces carbon emissions and improves air quality while supporting the rapid growth of electric vehicle adoption across the emirate.
Al Tayer also highlighted the importance of collaboration between the energy and transport sectors, praising Dubai Taxi Company’s commitment to expanding its electric vehicle fleet. He said the partnership contributes to reducing the transport sector’s carbon footprint while supporting the development of charging infrastructure that meets international standards and reinforces Dubai’s position in sustainability and innovation.
Kalbat said strategic partnerships remain central to Dubai Taxi Company’s long-term growth strategy. He noted that the agreement signed with DEWA at WETEX 2025 has now entered its implementation phase, supporting the company’s sustainability objectives and commitment to innovative mobility solutions.
He added that the collaboration reflects the shared ambition of both organisations to develop the infrastructure needed for Dubai’s smart and green future while creating lasting value for customers, stakeholders and the wider mobility ecosystem.
Future network
Mansoor Rahma Alfalasi, Group Chief Executive Officer of DTC, said Dubai’s drive to lead the future of sustainable mobility continues to encourage innovation throughout the sector, with the partnership representing another significant milestone in the company’s electrification programme.
He said the newly opened charging hub is only the first phase of a wider network comprising more than 200 ultra-fast charging stations dedicated entirely to DTC’s electric taxi fleet. As the network expands, it will increase fleet efficiency, maximise vehicle availability and help the company meet rising customer demand through reliable, zero-emission transport services.
The expansion is expected to strengthen the operational performance of Dubai Taxi Company’s electric fleet while supporting the emirate’s broader sustainability agenda through faster charging capabilities, reduced vehicle idle time and a growing charging network built specifically for commercial electric transport.
